MANSFIELD HIGH COUNTRY VICTORIA

Stockyard Creek Pioneer Homestead

“Stockyard Creek” via Mansfield to Sheepyard Flat, Howqua Hills Victoria
Homestead powered by water--, Eco Tourism at its finest.

Our historic bush homestead lies in the Howqua Valley where Australian Aborigines mined green stone for their axes.  The homestead is on a Mountain Cattleman’s working cattle farm surrounded by native forest.  Views from the lookout high on the property look deep into the Alpine National Park.
Horses and dogs are welcome.  Activities include swimming in the Howqua River, bushwalking, bird watching, koala, wombat and kangaroo spotting.
The Howqua Valley is a horse rider’s dream with various standards of tracks to suit all levels.
There are some spectacular four wheel drive destinations including Stoney’s Bluff Hut and the back tracks to Mt Buller, Mt Stirling and Craig’s Hut.
The homestead is most suitable for groups of friends and Wendy Stoney can provide full catering if required. Power is obtained from a turbine in the beautiful Stockyard Creek which runs beside the Homestead.
